Overview

Opioids prescribed after trauma and acute care surgery is among the most common first exposures to opioids. In this hour we talk with Dr. Hee Soo Jung about the current data on best practices for prescribing to these patients, best opioid alternatives, and strategies for minimizing the chance of opioid dependence or diversion.

We also review data from the Surgical Collaborative of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Health Information Organization about opioid prescribing for common surgical procedures in Wisconsin.

This session, and all the SPOTS sessions, can be watched here on SaferOpioids.com, or you can get an hour of free Continuing Medical Education credit (including opioid CME in Wisconsin) by clicking here.
